The Institute of Engineering and Applied Technology (IEAT) was established to unify related curricular programs at Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC). It was formally created through Board of Trustees Resolution No. 07-556, approved on August 9, 2007. Engr. Liberato B. Silverio served as its first Dean.

BASC became a chartered higher education institution in 1998 under Republic Act 8548, signed by President Fidel V. Ramos. Under its first president, Dr. Rolando F. Camacho, the College initially had six departments, including Engineering. During Dr. Josie A. Valdez’s presidency, these departments were renamed Institutes in 2003 to enhance their academic integrity. The Institute of Engineering was among them and later achieved remarkable milestones, including a 100% passing rate in the Agricultural Engineering Licensure Exams in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, BASC was recognized as the 2nd Best Performing School in Agricultural Engineering, and in 2006, Engr. Ronel D. Caña topped the licensure exam.

IEAT initially offered programs such as BS Agricultural Engineering (BSAEn), BS Geodetic Engineering (BSGE), and BS Food Technology (BSFT). In 2007, BS Information Technology (BSIT) was transferred from the Institute of Arts and Sciences, and BS Hospitality Management (BSHM) was introduced. Leadership transitioned from Engr. Silverio to Engr. Rhuelyn A. Ballaran in September 2007, followed by Engr. Joselito D. Tucit in 2008, under whom BSAEn was renamed BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (BSABEn). BASC became the first school in the Philippines to offer BSABEn.

The institute continued to grow, achieving milestones such as topnotchers in the 2012 Geodetic Engineering Licensure Exam and faculty/student certifications in PC Hardware and Servicing (NC II) from TESDA. In 2013, Engr. Alvin G. Quizon became OIC-Dean, leading the institute in developing TESDA-accredited Rice Machinery Operations (RMO) training.

Since September 2017, Engr. Alfredo L. Taluban Jr. has served as Dean. In 2025, IEAT was divided into two separate institutes: the Institute of Computer Studies (ICS) and the College of Engineering and Technology (CET). Prof. Michelle M. Cortez was appointed as Dean of ICS, while Engr. Alfredo L. Taluban Jr. continued as Dean of CET.

Both institutes remain committed to providing quality education and addressing the evolving needs of the academic and professional landscape.
